Northern Region

Northern Region

Things to do - general

Welcome to the heart of Ghana’s savanna! The home of the mighty baobab tree.

This region is your strongest bet of seeing an Elephant at close range or ‘filli filli’ as they say in Ghana! You also wouldn’t
want to miss the Larabanga Mosque which displays brilliant 14 th century architecture and the mystical stone which has to date defied all attempts at relocation.

The Mole National ParkGet to the Ghana’s largest region in terms of land area accounting for 29.5 percent of the total land area of Ghana with its famous regional capital, Tamale.

What the Northern Region lacks by way of the sea and water bodies, it more than adequately makes up for in its rich food, history, culture and architecture. NR serves a nice array of freshly brewed Pito and cereal-based foods. Its also the home of the guinea fowl and you woudlnt want to give up a nicely grilled Guinea fowl with a drink of Pito or palmwine while watching rich cultural displays for anything.
