Muni-Pomadze Marine Turtle Adventure
This ramsar site is located in a coastal town of Winneba in the central region between Accra and cape coast. Lying adjacent to the coast, the site comprises sandy beach, a lagoon and flood plain. Gulls, herons, egrets have been recorded on the site including some migratory birds species. The thrilling of it all, are three species of sea turtle; olive ridley, green turtle and leatherback.
Join group of night-timers turtle watchers to do such tour. You will most likely see some awe-inspiring turtle emerge from the sea and observe the entire nest digging and egg laying process. It’s amazing to see the female turtle nesting, camouflaging her nest and appearing slow and hesitant afterwards. All walks require reservations, comfortable shoes and adequate water to drink.
Getting there
From Accra to Cape Coast, turn left at the Winneba junction. Continue 900m after the roundabout and turn right in the direction of the Winneba government hospital to locate Ghana Wildlife Division Office.
