Visit the Kintampo falls to witness a 70 metre breathtaking plunge from the Pumpum River. The water then continues its journey towards the Black Volta. Recently revamped, the site also offers a great hike through the adjoining forest reserve. But be sure to take a dip in the plunge pool to feel the soothing effect of the water. While at Kintampo town ask to find out the ‘geographical middle point of Ghana’.
You might just be lucky to hear that the name Kintampo is actually a corruption of the phrase ‘king’s town pole’- an obvious reference to a pole erected by the colonial British administration erected a pole
indicating it to be the geographical center of the then Gold Coast.
Kintampo Falls are very easy to reach, located about 100m off the main Kintampo – Tamale highway and 5km from Kintampo town. At Kintampo town, you can find available taxis to take you there for a reasonable fee.
