Egyambra crocodile sanctuary
Egyambra is a town about 6km west of Princess Town in the Western Region of Ghana and known for its crocodiles which are venerated unlike other crocodiles elsewhere. Visit the crocodile pond in Egyambra to see how the fetish priest of the town will first of all pour libations for the crocodile god in front of the
Nana Lezrue River.
It will interest you to know that the fetish priest will poor a bottle of Coca Cola on the snout of the crocodile after it appears before giving it a live fowl. Pictures can be taken during all these processes with the permission of the fetish priest.
You may add a bottle of Coca Cola when packaging your snacks for your trip to Egyambra. It is very important you pay the visit to the pond in the morning because the ceremony takes place only in the
mornings.
There are a number of local food joints available and no accommodation facilities at Egyambra but you can locate some in the surrounding towns like Princess Town and Miamia. From Egyambra, you may hire a canoe and journey on the Kpano River to tour Princess Town to learn about the exciting history surrounding Fort Gross Friedrichsburg.
Any casual outfit with sneakers will not be bad when embarking on this adventure tour to Egyambra.
