Bomfobiri Wildlife Sanctuary
Bomfobiri is one of the National Parks which has a unique varied ecosystem and ecological values in Ghana. This wildlife sanctuary has a rich array of assorted flora and fauna which include at least 140 birds, 26 species of mammals, 3 species of crocodiles and 5 species of primates all of which will present to you a unique natural experience. Visit to partake in popular activities like bird watching, trail hiking or nature walk and camping. The water fall lovers and hikers are definitely not left out! There are two waterfalls in there: the Bomfobiri and Pame Waterfalls as well as varied topography for mountain climbing that will give you panoramic view of the surroundings, historic caves and magnificent hills. You can immerse yourself with nature by camping in three camps which are Kagyaworses, Wala and Yiribontiri, with the Game and Wildlife Staff.
How to get there
Board trotro or Metro Mass Transit from Kumasi to Kumawu. Find another trotro or taxi that is heading to Drabonso. The park entrance is located about 15 kilometers from the town of Kumawu along the Drabonso road. By private vehicle, the park is easily accessible travelling 67km northeast of Kumasi on Kumawu road.
