Bobiri Forest Reserve
This forest reserve is best known for its fascinating diversity hosting about 102 different indigenous species. This delightful butterfly sanctuary (reputed to be the only in West Africa), is home to about 456 butterfly species and still counting. So make it a point to be there….. you might just as well discover a new species! Other wildlife include Duikers, Antelopes, Bushbuck and Deer, and other small mammals such as African Giant Rat, Grass Cutter, Palm Squirrel and other rodents with unique shrubs. Have a real encounter with these fascinating mammals while engaging in the nature walk with your guide. Outdoor recreational activities and opportunities for environment learning, prospect of discovering and learning new cultures and locations are also available with a possibility for you to stay in the rest house. Bobiri has a rich collection of medicinal plants and while here you get to also learn about traditional alternatives to treatment of various ailments such as fractures, stomach problems, piles fever and boils.
How to get there
Using a private car you could drive straight to the town called Kubease. If using the public transport network, take a Konongo bound mini bus from Kumasi and alight at Kubease then follow available signs to the reserve.
