Accra markets (Makola) urban walk
If you looking for a market where you would get anything you could think of having, Makola is the place.
Makola is in Accra, the capital of Ghana and it is a traditional open air market. It is a very big and popular market where you can find variety of products displayed in stores and on the streets.
Some of the items you can purchase ranges from foodstuffs to textiles and hardware and may include cloths, imported products like car parts, food produce, pots and pans, foot wears, cosmetics,
kitchenware and jewelries. You will be surprised to encounter marketers, most of them women exhibiting their business skills through the act of bargaining and keeping records.
The busyness, hotness and the noisy nature of the place coupled with the crowd available are just overwhelming and so you are advised to wear any clothing that will enable swift movement and comfort when going there. There are also a number of financial institutions, food joints and other businesses at Makola.
Be informed that, trying to take pictures of those working in the market without permission can land you into trouble and window shopping is also not encouraged. You can go to Makola as early as 7:00am, join in the flow of people to get anything you want and you won’t regret the experience.

Get to Greater Accra, board “trotro”/ mini buses or taxi from any station going to Accra Central and alight at Makola.
